ABOUT CAITLYN

Hi, I'm Caitlyn, and I have been baking for as long as I can remember. My 5th grade science fair project was literally "the effect that the amount of baking powder has on how much a cake rises" - the obsession started early.

After college, I spent five years teaching middle school math (three in Las Vegas and two in Bucaramanga, Colombia) and picked up a master's degree in education along the way. My chapter in Colombia was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I fell in love with the country, the people, and finally, finally got to put my Spanish degree to actual use. When I moved back to Richmond in 2021, I brought my love of baking back with me.

A few years and a lot of life changes later, I made the decision to go all in. I built my dream kitchen in the house where my grandmother lived for 60 years, put everything I had into Corazón Cake Company, and haven't looked back. It hasn't always been easy,  but it has always been worth it.

​

I've been gluten-free for over a decade, which means I've eaten my fair share of disappointing GF cake. That's exactly why I started specializing in it. Not because it was a market opportunity, but because I genuinely believe everyone deserves a slice of something extraordinary, and I got tired of watching gluten-free people settle for less.

​

I truly believe I make the best gluten-free cake in central Virginia. I say that not to be bold, but because I've spent years making it true.

When I'm not in the kitchen, you can find me rotating through my 14 cyclical hobbies (weight lifting, rock climbing, snowboarding, backpacking, competitive jigsaw puzzling etc), or cuddling with my cat, Corazón ❤️
